Iranian Singer, World Music
Darya Dadvar, whose first name means “sea,” describes herself thus: “I see myself as a drop of water that will perhaps, one day, reach the sea.” Since 1991 she has resided in France, engaged in a successful career as a soprano, attracting listeners from around the world. Her concerts are heavily attended.
In 2003 she was given a triumphal reception at the Tehran, Iran opera house. Accompanied by 125 European and Armenian instrumentalists and singers, she sang an opera inspired by Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh (The Book of the Kings).
