Darya Dadvar, whose first name means “sea,” describes herself thus: “I see myself as a drop of water that will perhaps, one day, reach the sea.” Since 1991 she has resided in France, engaged in a successful career as a soprano, attracting listeners from around the world. Her concerts are heavily attended.
In 2003 she was given a triumphal reception at the Tehran, Iranian opera house. Accompanied by 125 European and Armenian instrumentalists and singers, she sang an opera inspired by Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh (The Book of the Kings). Read more about Darya.
